A player encountering an Alpha Mammorest.
Alpha Pals are larger Pals which appear at predefined locations in the world, visible on the world map, or spawn at the end of Dungeons.
Some of them can be encountered as overworld bosses. They will be marked on the map, along with their level.
Most overworld Alpha Pals roam in the wild freely, while some instead appear as domains that can be entered to battle the Alpha Pal. Each overworld Alpha Pal always has its own scripted place on the map and respawns 1 hour after being defeated.
The Alpha versions of Pals that do not have an Alpha version in the overworld (such as Foxparks) appear randomly as a boss at the end of Dungeons. There is also a small chance to acquire an Alpha Pal from an Egg, regardless of whether or not the parents were Alphas themselves.
Alpha Pals are larger than regular Pals, akin to Lucky Pals, and have a red Alpha icon next to their names and icons.
Differences[]
Prior to Early Access 0.2.4.0 Alpha Pals did not have higher stats (HP, attack, defense, etc) than regular Pals.[1]
Now Alpha Pals have a higher HP stat than regular pals.
Alpha Pals have a few differences compared to regular Pals:
- When killed, they grant 10x more experience than their regular variant would grant.
- The damage they receive is multiplied by a factor from 0.2 to 0.4 (depending on the specific Alpha Pal). This makes them last longer in combat.
- The capture rate is different, usually lower than the regular Pal. In most cases, the multiplier factor is 0.7 or 0.77.
- The possible drops are different for Alpha Pals. See Possible Drops section below.
In addition, when an Alpha Pal is caught, the Alpha Pal icon is displayed next to its name in most interfaces.
Possible drops[]
Alpha Pals have additional possible drops beyond their normal counterparts. When defeated or caught, they will always drop Ancient Civilization Parts, and will sometimes drop items to be sold like
Precious Pelts or
Precious Dragon Stones.
Certain Alpha Pals have a small chance to drop Legendary Schematics. For example, the Beakon boss has a 3% chance to drop Handgun Schematic 4 when defeated.
When a specific Alpha Pal on the world map is defeated or caught for the first time, they provide the player with Ancient Technology Points.
These drops (including Schematics but excluding Ancient Technology Points) can be granted by Butchering Pals, allowing two chances to get the desired drops.[2]
Sealed Alpha Pals[]
Sealed Alpha Pals exist within their own Sealed Realms, which the player can enter to fight the boss in.

The Alpha versions of each Pal have their own title. Following are the list of Pals with their Alpha Title:

Trivia[]
- The Alpha icon will appear on overworld Pals that have a large level difference with the player. That icon will not render them Alphas, and will disappear when the player reaches a high enough level in comparison to the Pal. Indicating the icon is a metric of Threat assessment, rather than a status of a Pal itself.
- This also applies to Humans.
- When fighting overworld Alpha Pals, it's advised not to stray too far away from their primary spot, as the Alpha Pal might just retreat back to its spot in the middle of battle and recover all of its HP upon reaching it.
