Falling is a mechanic in Palworld. If the player hits the ground while falling a long distance, they will take fall damage.
Mitigation Strategies[]
To prevent fall damage, the player can activate their glider, climb against a surface (mid-air,) or Use a Flying Mount's Skill to call it, if close enough.
To reduce fall damage, it may be possible to use a grappling gun to break the fall damage. While its rope may not be fast enough to reach the ground before the player, they can still horizontally aim it at walls or objects nearby.
Gliding and climbing costs stamina. If the glider deactivates due to lack of Gliding Energy, or climbing stops because the character is out of stamina, these methods won't be possible to break the fall damage. Grappling Guns don't cost stamina, meaning if they are off cooldown, they can be used as a last resort.
As a consequence[]
Attempting to Glide while over Max Weight, will result in failure, and you will continue falling.
Dismounting a Flying Pal mid-air.
Trivia[]
While falling, Pals can't be summoned from the player's party; however, throwing Pal Spheres to catch wild Pals is still possible.
