Grintale (Japanese: ニャンギマリ Nyangimari) is a Neutral element Pal.

Paldeck Entry[]

Grintale's eyes light up the moment anyone enters its territory.
This is no figure of speech- its eyes literally light up.

Biology[]

Appearance[]

Grintale is a Pal resembling a massive, bulky cat with a split tail. Its medium-length fur is of a dusty purple complexion throughout most of the body, including the head, enormous triangular ears, and back. Underneath this thick layer of purple fur are two more layers; a beige-coloured middle layer that encompasses the face, legs, and sides, and a black-coloured inner layer that covers the underside. The tail is black and cable-thin compared to the rest of the creature, and bears a purple band just before where the tail splits into two.

Its face is its most distinguishing feature, with a pair of giant, circle-shaped, glowing yellow eyes with white pupils, and of course, fitting of its name, a big wide grin underneath, full of comically big, triangular teeth.

It is much bigger than the player character, at roughly 200-210 cm at the head, not including the ears (assuming the player avatar is around 180 cm).

Behavior[]

While this Pal can only be found at night, for some reason, they will be more commonly found sleeping than they will be roaming around. They will still be able to spawn for a while after the break of dawn, and won't completely disappear until the sun is actually visibly rising in the horizon.

Despite being considered a nocturnal species, if employed as a Base Pal, they will actually sleep during nighttime, and thus will need a bed to accommodate them, perhaps a side effect of not being a Dark-element Pal.

And yes, the big yellow eyes do indeed shine brightly in the darkness of the night, though they won't really help the player much in terms of map visibility; the eyes don't actually light up the map's surroundings, akin to a car's headlamps to be more clear.

Update History[]

Trivia[]

  • It appears to take inspiration from Alice in Wonderland's Cheshire Cat and/or possibly My Neighbour Totoro's Catbus.
    • The split tail is a distinguished trait of nekomata, a type of bakeneko, or cat yōkai.
  • Its Japanese name may come from にゃん nyan (onomatopoeia the cry of a cat) and gimmari (Korean fried seaweed rolls), the latter probably because of Grintale's body shape resembling the dish.
  • Grintale was featured in Paldeck No.057 on PocketPair X and youtube channel.
